#98 Fences

This new fence at
Rissers Beach
is to protect
the sand and dunes
from washing into the sea.
Many storms have
damaged the
beach in the past.

  1. Wow, we have snow fences, I guess it is only fitting that a beach has sand fences, you opened my mind, never thought about that before. Great image for the theme!!

  2. Nice take on the theme. Too bad the battle with Mother Nature has an artificial weapon.

  3. They work too it gives the dunes a chance to recover and then once plants get hold they can stabilize and better withstand the onslaught, great shot showing the perspective of what the builders were hoping to achieve, love it.

  4. They really work? You'd think sand particles would be smaller than the openings between the slats.
Really cool looking with the zigzag and all! (Maybe they zigzag it to prevent the sand particles from escaping--confuses 'em, ya know.)
Sorry, it's been a LONG day!

  7. I think that the fence makes you follow it all the way to the end! Nice capture and nice that they are trying to preserve the area.
