#246 Purple

Purple violets! My daughter has a green thumb when it comes to growing African violets! Just one small plant has so many flowers it is impossible to put them all in one image. So I picked these by chance but they all are beautiful!

#107 Footwear

These colourful baby shoes are hand made in town by the cobbler's wife! She is very proud of these sweet little leather shoes. They were for sale on a shelf in the window but she insisted they be placed just so on a table in enhance their unique characteristics!

#326 Things with wings

I am so sorry I did not get a picture of the Bald eagle. When I see an awesome bird like that I just stand and stare! I does,'t cross my mind to take my eyes off of it and "klick" it. Maybe I will outgrow this flaw. Please accept second best, a few noisy geese! LOL

#278 shades of Gray

Today was a day come true! Sunny, warm, and very little wind. On my late afternoon walk I saw these migrating geese feeding on a field. I carefully approached them, got well down below them and snapped away. To my surprise, it was not me that made them nervous but the bald eagle flying over head.

#313 Swim

We have had lots of rain this week. It may appear that "Donald and Daisy" are swimming in a swamp or pond, no, this is the field next to the driveway. Every spring these 2 ducks check out the waterlevel on the field and take a swim. After an hour or so they will fly across the road to the bay and swim away!

#342 Underneath

Does this collection of items suggest something?
Some one in our house is "under the weather."
I won't say who, but you may have noticed most of my pics have been inside! It is just a cold but it does slow one down!

#141 Hangs on a Wall

Hanging on our livingroom wall is this water painting of my horse Ember. Also there is a greeting card made from the original painting. The artist is a wonderful person who is very devoted to companion animals.
Ember is a Morgan Belgium mix and this year will be 23 years old, I have had her since she was 4 months old! Spoiled!
I can talk forever about my horse, but you will see more of her !

#123 Go Fish

I bought this goldfish in May 2003 for very little money. She was very small and rather cute! Now she is over 12 inches long and as large as my two hands clasped together. She is missing a few scales and the colour is more white than gold. Her aquarium is next to the computer so she watches us a lot. She is watching me now!

#249 Rain, Rain,Go Away

"Wait 5 minutes and the weather will change."
We have had freezing rain, now heavy rain, and tomorrow, whatever! My weather vane is collecting ice as the rain is beating down and freezing on contact. I took this picture from an upstairs window with my telephoto lens. I do not take the camera outside in this mess!

#323 The Wild Side

These are white tail deer and are very wild. I saw them just before dusk and they also saw me. The deer in the foreground is stamping her foot at me in hopes I will go away. They come out of the woods in spring time to nibble on the neighbour's field.
Oh and the bike in the tree, that's kinda wild too!

#341 Two

Two celestial bodies, Venus is above the crescent moon. This is a rare grouping. The wispy clouds give it more character. Did anyone else see this last night?

#36 Broken

Broken doesn't mean it's not working.
This Candleholder sphere is made of broken glass!

#25 Beverage of Choice

On a dull, cold winter morning I get my day
off to a jump start with a well brewed coffee!
I drink it every day so I believe it to be my favorite drink.

#58 Coin Operated

I got greedy and took a picture of all the coin operated candy machines! There is gum, toys, and stuff I would not put near my mouth! But I still love Bubble Gum Machines.

#177 Looking Down

We went to the Airport today to pick up a friend. This man was standing on a ledge on a wall at the Stanfield Internatioal Airport. I am not sure what he was up to but he was looking way down to speak to someone!
My first thought, " No No don't Jump! Life is good Really!

#330 Time

This Time Piece is set to "Standard Time".
hmmm. It was an overcast day so I do not know the exact time. The Sundial is a wonderful creation but try to carry with you and keep up the appointments.

Before Sunrise

I was up this morning before the sun. There is a storm coming so the water is more calm and the sky, more red. One gets used to the view outside their windows but I thought if I lived inland this maybe very interesting!

#108 For Sale

This add is in this week's fliers! It sure took me by surprise! Cute little thing, I bet you will have to take "Rain Checks"! Peanut could save himself and his wife a lot of time by going to the store for "Baby".

#201 Not your Mother Tongue

This is a very old German Bible,1788. It came to Lunenburg with the German Settlers. It has been in Lunenburg County ever since. There are hand written dates in it from 1804. But it is in German and my family does not speak or read German. ( Click on the image to make it big, you can see the words better!)

#60 Communication

This communications tower is right in the town of Bridgewater. It bleongs to "Aliant". The tower is not so tall but it does add interest to the sky line. Not often I think to make images of the everyday "tools". I take for granted it will always be there!

#35 Bridges

This structure was a railway bridge for many years, now it is a walking trail. Many bridges cross the Lahave River and I think that is how the town got its name "Bridgewater"!

#54 Closed

The Beach where we walk is just a few miles down the road from our home. This Canteen is a busy spot in summer, ice cream, chips, fries, drink... But in winter it is closed up tight. The people still visit but there are no treats till summer.

#298 Spiral

The moonsnail shell can be found on our beaches in winter, in summer beachcombers carry them away. The age of it can be calculated by the number of ridges. This one lived a good life.

#100 Fire or Flame

I did some fancy editing and messed up my first "Fire" so I'll try again! This warm relaxing fire is in our woodstove in the kitchen.
Today was a busy day. After sittting and watching the fire I thought it may be just the right picture for the theme Fire or Flame. Fire is an interesting challenge to photograph!

#100 Fire or Flame

So I had a very busy day and relaxed beside our little woodstove in the kitchen. I did not have a picture yet for the theme so I took a series of shots of the fire and this one came out pleasant enough to share. Hope it relaxes you too!

#285 Silver and Gold

I tried many techniques to give this combination of silver and gold its best looks. I finally used a smoked glass panel held over a dark bucket in diffused sunlight,(cloudy sky). The silver charm bracelet I got when I was 18 years old and it holds many symbols of my life. The big gold coin, gold chain and charm I found at a yardsale. It cost me less than a dollar. It is a $100.00 gold coin. Guess that is why I "yardsale"! :)

#244 Public Transportation

This cable ferry crosses the Lahave River every 15 minutes regardless of the weather. Even ice doesn't stop it. Before the 1900's the ferry was a large row boat that took horse and wagons to the other side. Then in the early 1900's a barge with a tugboat was used to move cars. With in the last 20 years, a cable ferry that can carry buses, transport trucks, cars and farm equipment was put in. Some people are nervous of it but I love to get out on deck, feel the breeze on my face and snap pictures!

372 Curvy

I had so many ideas today but this one just won me over.
An old tractor seat perched next to a wharf waiting for summer guests to return. The curve in the stand"?"seems to make that old iron seat very inviting!

#234 Pink

This tea cup and saucer was hand painted in Japan. I bid on it at an auction some time ago because the pink flower and black background were so unique . I do not know if it is antique or worth much to a collector but I love it for its
colours and the handsome flower.

#103 Flowers

I was trying to do a close up of these flowers, Alstromeria, when I got some help from a "friend."
She really added personality to the composition.

#221 Outdoor Seating

For some reason this lawn chair is sitting in the middle of an icy cove. No marks are on the ice to say how it got to be there. It could be waiting for someone to sit on it but the ice is rather cracked.

#19 Backlighting

I can't wait for warmer weather so I have subjects other than ice.

This icicle is lite up by the sun just coming over the horizon. Each little orange spot is the sun glowing through. If you stare at it a while you may see a human shape.

#292 Snow or Ice

The ocean spray covered these rocks and then it froze into icicles.
You know it is cold when salt water freezes.
I think the icicles look like teeth!

#188 Monuments or Memorials

On the waterfront in Lunenburg is this unique monument listing all the fishermen from the Lunenburg area who died at sea.
It is in the shape of a Compass Rose.
On some pillars are the names of ships that were lost with all hands.

#235 Places of Worship

This church in Lunenburg has a long and amazing history. The original was built in the 1750s and stood until a terrible fire just a few years ago. It was rebuilt with such care that it looks just like it did before the fire.

#48 Childhood Favorite

A long long time ago I played with my Barbie
art book, a sweet little Nova Scotian Tartan purse and my favorite toy horse "Flame". Some how I replace the book with a camera, the purse with a newer one. I have a real horse in my back yard. I just can't grow up!

#43 Celestial Body

I used my telephoto lens, 40-150mm, a long exposure and a tripod. There is earthshine on the moon so you can see the whole shape of the moon.

# 28 Blue

The Cape Lahave is in Lahave unloading its scallop catch.
A crisp temperature of minus 15c makes the sky, water and boat
a beautiful clear blue.

#211 Oops

I saw this accident on my way
home! No one was hurt, just very wet and cold!
